Diah Saminarsih is a trained Psychologist. She currently serves as Senior Advisor on Gender and Youth in the Office of WHO Director General in Geneva, Switzerland. She founded Center for Indonesia’s Strategic Development Initiatives (CISDI) to continue the pursuit in achieving national development as well as global development through the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and youth empowerment.

In 2014, she was appointed as Minister of Health’s Special Adviser on Partnership and SDGs. During this time, Diah has represented Indonesia in numerous global forums including the UN General Assembly on the conception of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) between 2012 to 2014, World Health Assembly, Co-Moderating WHO Director General Candidates Debate, and Stockholm Food Forum 2017 where she represented the Indonesian government on co-hosting the first EAT Asia Pacific Food Forum.

Diah Saminarsih has always believed in the role of youth as the key driver of development. During her tenure as the Deputy of the President’s Special Envoy for the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in 2011, she became the driving force behind the establishment of the Pencerah Nusantara movement. Collaborating with different organizations and sectors, Pencerah Nusantara was born under her supervision in 2012 with the aim to improve the primary healthcare system in underprivileged areas.

Pencerah Nusantara has been globally and nationally acknowledged as a successful civil society innovation. Pencerah Nusantara was placed as runner up during the Open Government Awards 2015 which has proven its effective approach and significant impact upon its first three years of implementation. Their success has become the basis for the Indonesia’s Ministry of Health to scale up the initiative as a national intervention program, known as Nusantara Sehat.
