Beka is one of the former commissioners of the National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) who has been active since 2017. Throughout his journey with Komnas HAM, he was involved in monitoring and investigating conflicts and human rights violations, discriminatory practices, and intolerance. Apart from working in the field of human rights, Beka is also an activist and civil society activist on development and democracy issues. Beka's connection with activism has been inherent since he was a student, when he was involved in various movements that voiced the interests of marginalized groups. Since 2006, Beka has been part of various organizations and development partners to facilitate capacity building for local governments on human rights and democracy education. Beka has worked on civil society advocacy for development since joining the International NGO Forum on Indonesian Development (INFID) in 2013. In addition, Beka is also a member of the advisory board of the Indonesian GUSDURian Network, a grassroots organization whose mission is to continue the ideals, thoughts, and works of K.H. Abdurrahman Wahid or Gus Dur, the fourth President of the Republic of Indonesia. Beka's expertise in human rights, democracy, and social movement issues has led him to become a speaker, trainer, and professional who fills various discussion forums and pieces of training at the national and international levels.
