About

Prof.Dr.dr. Akmal Taher, SpU(K) is a urologist, professor at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia, and a patent holder of phosphodiesterase IV inhibitors in Germany, USA, Canada, and Japan. Akmal Taher currently serves as a commissioner at the Indonesian Urology Collegium. He has also served as Special Advisor to the Indonesian Minister of Health for Service Development (2014-2019). After graduating as a urologist in 1988, Akmal Taher continued his higher education at Hannover Medical School, Hannover, Germany, and obtained his Ph.D. in 1993. At the same time, Akmal Taher obtained his Doctorate degree from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia. His career climbed and became more consistent when he was appointed as President Director of the National Hospital, Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital, and President of the Indonesian Urologists Association. Following his achievements in the academic field of medical education, Akmal Taher has also received various awards such as Satyalancana Karya Satya for his dedication as a Civil Servant for more than twenty years in 2004, winner of the Best Research from the Ministry of Research and Technology (1997), Großhaderner Innovationspreis, Germany (1994) and Best Young Researcher from the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI Indonesia) (1993).
